On Saturday, October 9, we went to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta! The Balloon Fiesta takes place over the course of more than a week each October in Albuquerque, and hundreds of hot air balloons fly over the city. It's a pretty amazing event that draws hundreds of thousands of people to the area.
We didn't think we were going to make it this year, but we came across a couple of free tickets and decided to make it to the last Balloon Glow of the week. The Balloon Glows take place in the evening, when the balloon pilots light up their balloons on the ground. It makes for a pretty awesome sight, and it's fun to walk around and see all the balloons lit up.
It was really windy the evening we went, so there were only a handful of balloons that participated, but we had fun nonetheless. And we met our friend Julie and her daughter Lilli there, which was great! We bundled the little guy up and enjoyed our time together.
The sunsets in New Mexico are just amazing. That evening was no exception.

We knew there would be fireworks at the end of the evening, so we decided to head up to higher ground away from the balloon field, in case Beck got frightened. He actually really enjoyed watching them, which was fun to see. He did really well the entire evening.
It was a fun time. We know we'll enjoy coming back out to the Balloon Fiesta in the years to come.
